The Auty Cup, international cricket's oldest rivalry, dating back to 1844, between USA and Canada, will not be played in 2018, after administrators from both countries could not come to an agreement to stage matches.
ESPNcricinfo had reported last month that the series was in doubt after USA Cricket officials stated that Cricket Canada was not responding to communication attempts to finalise match dates. USA had wanted to host the series, which in recent years has comprised three 50-over matches, later this month in North Carolina during a short window between the conclusion of the 2020 World T20 subregional Americas Qualifier on September 26, and both countries' departure for the West Indies for the CWI Regional Super50 tournament in the first week of October.
However, USA Cricket project officer Wade Edwards confirmed to ESPNcricinfo on Friday that the series had been scrapped. "Canada notified us it was not in their plans in 2018," he said.
USA broke a 26-year drought with a 2-1 series win at King City last September. The next match between the two countries will be on September 22 during the regional T20 Qualifier.
