What to Wear to the Dallas Turkey Trot - D Magazine

Look, I’m not saying the Dallas Turkey Trot t-shirt isn’t iconic. The tees can be spotted year round, at boozy brunches, soccer games, and even farmer’s market visits. It’s practically a part of the Dallas fashion lexicon. But do you really need to wear the shirt to the race?

Personally, I think doing so would be a missed opportunity to debut a cute, sporty outfit when you’re bound to run into (literally) people you know. With a variety of athleisure boutiques around Dallas, there are plenty of places to get last-minute, sporty fits for the annual event.

Here are four workout-wear trends you can find at Dallas activewear stores, all conveniently located within NorthPark Center.

Fall Tones

Upon walking into various Dallas athleisure boutiques, I noticed a trend I hadn’t seen before. All the stores were sprinkled with gorgeous fall tones. If you’re interested in rocking cranberry, squash, and yam tones for the trot, check out these items.

Ditching Leggings and Shorts

While we’re ditching the shirts, why not ditch traditional bottoms too? With Outdoor Voices‘ Exercise Dress and Exercise Skort, you may just consider rocking the fit for Thanksgiving Dinner too.  (Although, I still recommend a shower.)

Layers

Running the Turkey Trot usually means transitioning from shivering to sweating. With lows in the 40s and projected showers, layering or even a waterproof garment may be the move.

Break a Trail Jacket

Water Bound Hoodie

Hair Accessories

Why not take some inspiration from Lele Sadoughi, the Dallas-born designer making headbands cool again, for your run? Hair accessories can keep the hair out of your face and protect you from possible rain on Thursday.

Resolve Cap
